On the Rocky Mountaineer

I had the incredible opportunity to experience Rocky Mountaineer’s First Passage to the West. We began our journey by flying into Vancouver, where we stayed for two nights before boarding the train. The scenic route took us from Vancouver to Kamloops and on to Banff, with an overnight stop in each town.

One of the unique aspects of this journey is that the train only operates during daylight hours, allowing passengers to fully appreciate the stunning landscapes along the way. While on board, we were treated to breakfast, lunch, plenty of snacks, and unlimited beverages. Passengers are free to move about the train, with access to a separate seating area and an outdoor platform for fresh air and prime photo opportunities.

We traveled in the GoldLeaf Service, which was a truly remarkable experience. The train moves at a leisurely pace, making it easy to take in the breathtaking scenery and spot wildlife. We were lucky enough to see eagles, deer, and even a couple of bears.

The accommodations throughout the trip were excellent, and there was ample time to explore each town, shop, and enjoy local dining. It was a fantastic journey filled with unforgettable sights and moments.
